Mental training is as important as physical training. For you to start thinking right and earn a lot of money is dependent on a few things. What you think about IS what you'll become, most of the time - Brian Tracy
Selling is not JUST about selling. And the product is NOT what you sell. This might sound strange, but in order to sell a product you need a couple of things...
1) Knowledge about the product/service you're selling
2) Personality (even if it's through the internet and not face to face). You need to convey your personality to your consumers.
3) Unique selling proposition in your promotion marketing. (EX sales letter, internet marketing campaigns etc).
What this means is, you have to tailor your product and sales letter/PPC advertising to a selected clientele. You can NOT cater to everybody's needs and wants. If you try to market a product/service to ALL, you'll end up with poor numbers. Select a group of people. Find out your customers needs and wants and who your customer is...
Age, gender, hobbies, habits, fears, how they spend their time, what their frustrations are etc. This insures that you can personalize your campaign and speak DIRECTLY to them. The first thing you have to do, is to sit down and write down your strategy of HOW to do it differently. Create a sales letter that is unique with something that this Group of people that read your sales letter will identify with. Everybody can write a sales letter, but there are many different points of view to sell the same product.
Find out what the competitors in this field are doing. Look at their sales letters/ads, marketing campaigns, etc.
What might come as a shock to you is that you DON'T NEED lots of gadgets, tools, or other fancy schmancy things that cost you money to promote on the internet. Don't get me wrong, tools are good to have, and you should definitely have a few. But in order to use a tool, you have to have the right MENTAL attitude to be able to take advantage of it to the fullest.
Let's say you have a power saw. To be able to take advantage of it's full potential and to use it so the outcome looks good and without incident, you need to first KNOW how to use it. Same goes for mental attitude. If you don't feel confident or have limiting beliefs, the end result of your use will become distorted.
4) Personal development (reading books, staying current on the topic of internet marketing). Sign up for newsletters that has to do with the subject of sales, marketing etc. Go with the giants that are already good in this industry. You want to avoid reading marketing wannabe's, gurus and peoples stuff, that are just starting out in this business. This is a BIG time waster. They either have no money to test out their claims, and/or the know how.
5) Looking for magic bullets or get rich quick schemes is NOT the way to go. success comes at a price. Decide how much time and effort you're willing to spend, to get to where you want to be. AND PAY THAT PRICE. What is important to note is that you have to pay it IN ADVANCE BEFORE you become successful.
6) Stick with it! Stick with it! Stick with it! If it seems frustrating, time-consuming, or it might look as if this is never going to happen, you have to have faith THAT IT WILL! To get over the hump.
7) Self analysis. Assuming the thing you have been doing haven't returned the result you wanted, you need to ask yourself questions. One is...How can I do it better/differently? Another one is, Is what I'm doing currently of use to me?
8) Prioritize, TV, newspapers, Video games etc. Are complete time wasters. What you need to focus on is the thing that makes you money right now AND the thing that makes you money at a later date. Make a daily list with all the things you want to accomplish or do. Number them in order of importance. Do the nr 1 first, then nr 2 etc.
It is important that you do find time to relax and do the things that you think are fun too....AFTER you've done the important stuff! Reward yourself AFTER those things are done!
9) Excuses. You can find every excuse on the planet NOT to do X thing.
I was a champion slacker for a long time and know that it IS hard at first, to get into the habit of being effective in daily life. If you have trouble getting over the hump, do a list of EASY TO ACCOMPLISH GOALS at first. Maybe do the dishes, or take out the garbage. Then after a week or two, take it a step higher, in small increments, so the adjustment won't be that big or hard. Don't delay, take ACTION NOW! Say to yourself...I'm going to do this NOW! When you have a task at hand.
10) You work for yourself. Your own education is very important and proportionate to your earnings. What you do with that education is a multiplying factor in how much...times X...you are getting for your money.
11) Start taking responsibility. Deluding yourself and lying to yourself is one of the worst things you can do. Start being truthful with yourself.
12) Start reading books (if you haven't been doing so in the past).
I hope this article has made you aware of a few things. And now when you are aware, you can change your outcome. So let's focus on what you should do, rather than what NOT to do.
