One of the principal legal benefits for business owners and real estate investors in using LLCs to conduct their businesses and hold their real estate is the limited liability shield provided by statutes to it's members and managers. This shield protects the personal assets of these members and managers (e.g., their homes and savings) from being at risk for debts of the LLC and the business assets and real estate the LLC owns.

However, in certain circumstances the courts may "pierce the veil" of an LLC - that is, they may disregard this shield and may hold members and/or managers personally liability for claims against the LLC....

Being capable of planning and so constructing robust plans is a core skill for all managers and as a result it frequently forms a main topic on management training courses. It can be helpful to examine how experienced managers go about planning and data from a poll of 316 businesses does just this. The poll reveals when and the way sales managers from small, medium-sized and large companies from all industries do their sales planning.

When asked when sales planning is started, 54% of all sales managers replied, 'Up to three or more months before the beginning of the new business year.' 37% of managers begin their planning 4 to six months ahead of the new fiscal year. In general, the survey revealed that the larger the company, the lengthier the planning period.

The process for applying for registration with the Care Quality Commission has been notoriously complicated, involving a lot of paperwork and navigation through some difficult systems. However, things are changing! The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have been undertaking an internal review of their administration and registration systems and have recently put into place a number of changes that should simplify the application process and minimise the paperwork requirements by service providers and registered managers.

Leaders and Managers are often frustrated in their attempts to improve employee engagement. Even with all our current efforts for improvement, according to Blessing and White's 2011 Employee Engagement survey, the average organization stands at only 31% engaged. I believe much of the frustration and poor performance stems from the misconceptions leaders have about how to improve employee engagement.

Misconception #1 - Managers are fully responsible
The first misconception is "managers are fully responsible for engagement" of employees. This is a contradiction because employee engagement is, by definition, an emotional response to the environment such that employees willingly exert greater discretionary effort into their work. Managers cannot create an internal emotional response. Managers can only create a better environment. The environment must offer a higher probability of the engagement experience. The major responsibility for employee engagement must therefore be placed with the employee him/herself. The employee must take advantage of the environment and all the elements that create engagement. Employee engagement is a joint responsibility.
